Stimulus-Thanks for Nothing

I’m definitely in with the 57%!  The 57% of people polled in a USA Today/Gallup poll that feels the $787 billion dollar turd laid by the Obama Administration has done nothing for the economy or made it worse.  While most economists agree that the recession would have been worse without it, just who is benefiting?  My $13.00 did’nt even make it to my wallet.  Thank you California.

Americans still are not spending like our economy depends on them to do.  Without consumer spending, gains in corporate earnings will suffer.  Most gains were made through deep cuts (we’ve all seen it), not the result of everyone running out to buy whatever the company you work for is selling.    Unless of course you are  Toyota.  Thanks to the Cash for Clunkers horn of plenty, foreign car makers are seeing great increases in sales.  For the dealerships, however, the horn is a horn of empty since they are having very little success getting paid.  Do you think this “gap” has any impact on spending?  Great PR to say they’ve already expended $1 billion dollars for the program and authorized two more.  It probably would be a little better if they could actually say they’ve paid it out.  Ooops!  Too bad I was right when I said this would benefit foreign car makers and leave US auto manufacturers farther in the dust.

The people I know are all working more hours, being given more responsibility and getting less in return for their efforts.  Euphemisms have taken the place of dialogue.  “We should all be happy we have a job”  because “it’s a new way of doing business.”

We are happy we have jobs, but we aren’t happy that it comes at the expense of those closest to us.  It is a new way of doing business, unfortunately the model is flawed.
